LeBron Reveals the Key to the Lakers' Success This Season
Nov 19, 2025
The Los Angeles Lakers have looked pretty darn good so far this season. Even though they’ve only had one game with LeBron James in the lineup, they are still competing near the top of the Western Conference. As of Wednesday, they are 11–4 and the 4th seed in the West.
Luka Doncic looks as good as ever, and so does Austin Reaves, and the Lakers’ role players are clicking in a nice way.
However, with the Lakers, the question is going to be their defense. With Luka, Reaves, and LeBron likely to play heavy minutes, they are going to be solid on offense. That being said, none of those guys are elite defenders, and without an elite rim protector or an All-Defensive player on the roster, the defense is going to be the question.

LeBron echoed these concerns in a recent interview.
“When you have an MVP caliber player candidate like Luka, what he’s doing this year, AR has jumped and has come up to another level this year. It’s only so many defenders out there, it’s only so many eyes I can kick in on so many guys. Our biggest test is how we defend each night.”
A recently fired general manager said, “Defense wins championships,” and it’s true. The best chance the Lakers have of winning a title is to be a solid defensive team and an elite offensive team. If they can reach that level, then the rest of the league needs to be worried. They could be a very dangerous team come playoff time.
