Tyler Kolek Reveals How He Was Able To Make His Game Sealing Block On Donovan Mitchell

Christmas Day was a massive win for the NBA, with seemingly every game bringing plenty of entertainment, but it was the opener that was perhaps the best of all. In that one, the New York Knicks hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers, with the home team making a 14-point comeback in the fourth quarter to seal the impressive 126–124 victory.

Late in this one, young guard Tyler Kolek once again turned the momentum with a chase-down block on Donovan Mitchell that had MSG hyped. After the game, Kolek addressed the play, stating that if Mitchell didn't try to go for 'windmill sh*t', he wouldn't have had a chance to make that play.

"Honestly, if he ran and just did a regular layup, I wouldn't have caught up to him. But he wanted to do some windmill s**t… he was trying to do something crazy."

This continues Kolek's streak of impressive performances for the Knicks, with the 24-year-old firmly entrenching himself in Mike Brown's rotation as they deal with the continued absence of Deuce McBride.

On top of the block, Kolek posted 16 points, three rebounds, and a team-high nine assists, as he has become a very trusted member of this current Knicks team. While this block wasn't the one that sealed the game, it continued the Knicks' major comeback as they made a statement on Christmas Day that they are once again the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.
