Karl-Anthony Towns Addresses The Timberwolves In His Return to Minnesota

Before last season, the New York Knicks made the shocking move of trading for Karl-Anthony Towns, bringing the NBA's best shooting big man to The Big Apple as they pursued an NBA Championship. While the move was a good one for both teams, it was incredibly emotional for Towns, who spent the first decade of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On Tuesday, he returned to the place he grew up in the NBA, tallying an incredible 40 points and 13 rebounds despite the Knicks' loss in the absence of Jalen Brunson. After the game, Towns addressed the emotions that he went through during his return to Minnesota.

“You could be at peace with the trade, but it still stings when you're not walking in this locker room, coming to this amazing state, city, and realize you're not going to the training facility anymore... and now you're in a hotel. I think it hits different.”

Clearly, Towns is at peace with the move to New York as he's become a key piece alongside Brunson in the Knicks' NBA title hopes, but that doesn't negate all of the feelings he's got when he returns to the city to see all of the people he spent so long with.

At the end of the day, the NBA is a business, and both New York and Minnesota believed the trade would make them better, but clearly, that will never change his feelings for the city and the organization he grew up with in the league.
