Former NBA Coach Has High Praise for Nikola Jokic

Nikola Jokic continues to do things that have never been done before. He’s already won three MVP awards. He’s got an NBA championship and Finals MVP award. There’s really no height that Jokic hasn’t reached.

Then there’s the statistics. Put up Jokic’s numbers against any of the greatest players of all time, and it is clear he belongs in a category with few others.

Former NBA All-Star and coach Mark Jackson recently spoke about where Jokic lines up on the list of the greatest big men to play the game.

"He's climbing the charts on the all-time great list. You look at him and you playing, then you look at the stats, you're like, "This guy has what?" And he does it every single night. He's playing at his own pace with his own style. And it's truly poetry in motion. When you think about the greatest players and the greatest centers, you thought that it was a lock for five best centers or the six best centers. He's not in the discussion; he's already in the group. He's in the group and confidently in the group and moving guys out that we thought would never be moved out."

Only comparing Jokic to big men easily puts him near the top of the list of greatest centers ever. However, if Jokic continues to dominate and maybe even wins another title, he’s going to be in conversations about the greatest players ever, regardless of position.

We are watching history in the present. Jokic is one of the best ever to touch a basketball, and his career is far from over. He will continue to climb up the list of the greatest players ever.
