Donovan Mitchell Makes Startling Admission About The Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ start to the 2025–26 season has left plenty to be desired, and while a big win on Tuesday has them sitting at 17–14, they’re still in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Donovan Mitchell has once again been leading the way, averaging 30.6 points through 28 games played, and given the way he’s playing, there’s immense optimism there.

However, internally, things may not be going as well as expected, with the team going 3–4 in their last seven games as they struggle to rekindle the momentum they had in 2024–25. Now, “Spida” has made a startling admission about the team’s chances this season, recently revealing that he doesn’t feel as though they are an NBA Playoffs team as of right now.

“We're not a playoff team right now, we're not playing like it.”

As of right now, the team has done nothing wrong, but they’ve simply struggled to stay healthy and play a consistent rotation for long stretches of time, and as a result, they’ve fallen to seventh in the East. When healthy, however, this is still the team that finished first in the conference a season ago, and if they can get back to that, the belief is clearly still there.

Ultimately, a small stretch of games could change Cleveland's season for better or worse, but given the immense talent that's up and down this roster, the belief is that they'll find their momentum at some point in 2025–26.
