JJ Reddick Reveals How Lakers Practice Will Be Following A Tough Christmas Loss To Houston

The Los Angeles Lakers have been off to a fantastic start thus far in 2025–26, posting a record of 19–10 as they find themselves sitting in fourth place in the loaded, top-heavy Western Conference. However, they've faltered in the last few games, dropping their last three games, including a 119–96 defeat on Christmas Day to Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets.

Beyond the 25, 5, and 7 from Luka Doncic, there weren't many impressive performances to speak of from Los Angeles as their downhill play continues. After the game, Head Coach JJ Redick made his frustrations clear, stating that at the team's next practice, things will be uncomfortable for the team following their poor performance.

"Saturday's practice... It's going to be uncomfortable. I'm not doing another 53 games like this."

As of right now, Doncic has been the only player who's been consistent through their recent struggles, but unlike at the start of the season, they've not been able to get the same contributions from the role players on this squad. Given the play of Houston, Denver, and Oklahoma City, if the Lakers keep up this play, it's safe to say that they won't be seen as a genuine threat, despite having superstars like Doncic and LeBron James.

Ultimately, this team will go as far as Doncic can take them, but if the players around him can't contribute as they failed to do on Christmas Day, this isn't going to be a great season for the Lakers from here on out.
