'There's No Comparison'; Victor Wembanyama Addresses His Budding Rivalry With Chet Holmgren
Dec 24, 2025
The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder have begun building a very intriguing rivalry, and with the Spurs handing OKC two of their four losses this season, this could be a rivalry for a long, long time to come. Sure, the Thunder already have an NBA title under their belt, but with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama leading the way, this is a star-studded battle.
However, it's Wembanyama's budding rivalry with Chet Holmgren that has brought plenty of attention to this on social media, with Victor making his dominance over Chet known publicly. Now, he's addressed it once again, and while some want to call it a rivalry, the former No. 1 pick doesn't see it that way as he believes there's simply no comparison between the two players.
“No, I don’t think about that. At least from a basketball standpoint, there’s no comparison (between us).”
On paper, both bring different things to the table, but given what we've seen from Wembanyama early in his NBA career, it's easy to see why he feels this way.

This season, “The Alien” is averaging 24 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists per game, and given what a job he’s doing living up to the hype, he’s going to be one of the best players in the NBA for a long time to come. When it matters, though, Holmgren played a key role in the Thunder’s NBA Championship victory a year ago, so no matter what Wembanyama says, this could be a rivalry for a long time.
