Steve Kerr Clarifies What Happened During His Fight With Draymond

Steve Kerr and Draymond Green got into it on the bench a few days ago. It wasn’t the first time the two fiery personalities bumped heads, and it probably won’t be the last.

After over a decade of success together, there’s bound to be some disagreements. Add in the pressure of a declining star and the expectations of a championship dynasty, and there’s bound to be some friction.

Kerr took to the podium ahead of the Warriors' Christmas Day matchup with the Dallas Mavericks and cleared the air on what happened between him and Draymond.

"Monday night wasn't my best moment, and I regret my actions in that altercation. Draymond and I are both incredibly competitive, and we're a lot more alike than anyone could imagine; I didn't channel my own emotion and anger, of which I have plenty. I apologized to him, he apologized to me, and we both apologized to the team…"

"There's a long history here because we understand each other. I've said it before, and I truly believe it: I don't think we would have gotten any of our four banners without him. This conflict hasn't happened in recent years, but in our 12 years together, it's not the first time. We've always found a way not only to bounce back, but to progress because of it."

Other players and coaches might let a fight like this ruin their relationship. For Draymond and Kerr, it’s just like another argument between family members. Only this one is nationally televised.

So yeah, it wasn’t a good look for Kerr, Draymond, or the Warriors, but it doesn’t sound like they’re going to let it bleed into the rest of their season. They’ve addressed it, apologized, and can now move on their way.
