The Warriors Supposedly Aren't Worrying About Their Spot in the Standings

The Golden State Warriors are in a precarious position. They’ve been sitting near .500 for pretty much the entire season, and they are looking like they are at their weakest for the most important stretch of the season. As of Thursday, the Warriors are the 8th seed in the West with a record of 31-30.

Warriors reporter Dalton Johnson recently spoke about the Warriors' outlook for the rest of the season.

"Steve Kerr has been consistent for a little while now as far as saying they're not looking at the standings. They know what their standings are, but they don't talk about it in the locker room. They don't talk about it in film. They don't talk about it in coaches' meetings. They know what it is. They know what their destiny is this season and unfortunately, it is Play-In purgatory . . . They had won 12 of 16 games prior to Jimmy's injury, and they still weren't making up any ground. They've been the 8th seed for basically 3 months now."

Supposedly, the Warriors aren’t worrying about the standings, and they probably shouldn’t be. With Stephen Curry out for who knows how long, the Warriors are likely going to keep losing games. They’ve lost six of their last 10, and things aren’t looking up.

That’s why some people are calling for the Warriors to shut Curry down for the rest of the season. The Warriors aren’t good enough to make any noise in the playoffs, and Curry is dealing with knee pain that seems to be lingering. Getting Curry right for next season and landing a better draft pick in the lottery could be the best path for the Warriors.
