Spurs Star Rookie Dylan Harper Appears To Suffer Major Leg Injury

Coming into the 2025/26 NBA season, all eyes were on rookie Cooper Flagg, but to this point, we've seen some incredible performances from what may end up being a historic rookie class. From VJ Edgecombe to Cedric Coward to Flagg himself, the competition for Rookie of the Year is red-hot, with many pointing to Spurs rookie Dylan Harper as potentially the favourite for the award.

Through six games, the rookie guard is averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game, with many questioning the need for DeAaron Fox given how quickly Harper has adapted to the NBA game. Unfortunately, during the teams latest game, Harper was seen on the Spurs bench in a walking boot after he reportedly suffered a calf injury.

As of right now, the severity of Harper's injury has not been revealed, as the walking boot may have just been a precaution, but as mentioned above, calf injuries can be tough injuries to rehab, and can cause weeks or months of time on the sidelines.

If Harper does miss time, the team will turn to Stephon Castle in a big role in this back court, but to miss Harper would be a major loss for these Spurs, as he's been a seamless fit into this lineup so far. With Victor Wembanyama leading the way, the Spurs have been dominant in 2025/26, and if Harper and Fox both get healthy, this is a team that can be a genuine contender, but for now, Spurs fans will be holding their breath on Harper.
