Reporter Believes This Major Market Team Could Trade for Giannis

The entire NBA world is talking about the recent Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors. It’s been a couple of seasons now in which people are wondering whether Giannis is going to continue his career as a Buck or go somewhere else in pursuit of his second NBA championship. A recent report from Shams Charania said that the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks had conversations about a possible Giannis trade this summer.

Now, everyone is wondering whether there will be a Giannis trade sweepstakes this summer or even during this season.

Teams like the Knicks, Hawks, Warriors, Rockets, and Spurs are all expected to try to pursue the All-NBA forward if he becomes available.

However, there is one team that nobody is really expecting to be a likely destination for a Giannis trade: the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers already have their superstar of the future, and more importantly, they’ve given up most of their top trade assets for the next few seasons.

Still, one NBA reporter believes the Lakers could be part of the Giannis sweepstakes. Jovan Buha reported that the Lakers could “swoop in” with a competitive trade package for Giannis.

Once next summer hits, the Lakers will have three first-round picks and three pick swaps they could trade.

The only problem is, why would the Bucks want Lakers picks if they are going to have Luka Doncic and Giannis on the roster? This report feels like a long shot and an extremely unlikely scenario. Unless Giannis refuses to play for any team but the Lakers, there’s pretty much no shot he is traded there. But hey, you can always hope for the best.
