Reggie Miller Believes the OKC Thunder Should Retire These Four Jerseys
Oct 22, 2025
After years of regular-season success, the Oklahoma City Thunder finally captured their first NBA Championship in 2025, receiving their rings ahead of Tuesday's opener against the Houston Rockets. With their young core locked in, this team could have plenty of success moving forward, with many believing it has some franchise legends in the making on this roster.
On Tuesday, they battled a former franchise star in Kevin Durant, who helped the Thunder make it to their first NBA Finals back in 2012, ultimately losing to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and the Miami Heat.
Despite the hatred that still lingers for Durant, one can't deny what he did for the organization during his time there. Now, questions have emerged over whether he should have his jersey retired. According to Reggie Miller, the answer to that question is yes, alongside the rest of the core that led them to that Finals, in James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Serge Ibaka.
“Russell Westbrook should be retired here. Kevin Durant -- I know it's very unpopular -- should be retired here. I think Serge Ibaka should be retired here. James Harden, I think, should be retired here.”
Ultimately, there will be many differing opinions on this group and how things ended, but two of the four won MVPs in OKC while all four helped lead them to the Finals, so if they're open to it once they retire, it appears as though some believe at least three of the four may get their jerseys retired.
