Nuggets Trade Idea Brings in First Round Pick from 2025 NBA Draft
Dec 23, 2025
The Denver Nuggets are right where they’d like to be. As of Tuesday, they are tied for the second seed in the Western Conference with a record of 21–7. Nikola Jokic looks as good as ever, and Jamal Murray is having one of his best seasons in recent memory.
One small concern the Nuggets could have, though, is their depth at the point guard position. Outside of Murray, the Nuggets don’t really have another strong ball-handler at the guard position. This is one of the few minor changes the Nuggets could seek to make on the trade market.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed “1 Trade Every NBA Team Would Make If the Deadline Was Today,” and he proposed a trade for the Nuggets that could improve their guard depth.
"The trade: DaRon Holmes II, Jalen Pickett, and a 2032 second-round pick to the Miami Heat for Kasparas Jakučionis
The Nuggets need another ball-handler. The bench unit needs more playmaking, and Denver needs more protection in case Jamal Murray locks horns with the injury bug at any point.
The problem is the Nuggets are pretty dry on assets, so they're ball-handler-shopping on a tight budget. Maybe that makes them open to this type of wager on a totally unproven player like Jakučionis, this year's No. 20 pick.”
While this trade probably wouldn’t make a huge difference to the Nuggets’ season, it could be a smart one to make. Getting another ball-handler behind Murray, no matter how inexperienced, could prove helpful.
Murray is not known for being the most available star, and if he goes down, the Nuggets would be happy to have Jakučionis in their back pocket.
