New York Knicks Reportedly Hold Trade Talks Involving Big Time Star
Jan 20, 2026
The New York Knicks came into the 2025–26 season as one of the favorites in the wide-open Eastern Conference, but as of late, things have completely fallen apart. In 10 games played in 2026, the Knicks have managed just two victories, and following their defeat at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks, things have the potential to completely spiral in New York.
That has also led to some major questions around this lineup, and while the talent is still there following the additions of some useful veterans, something just isn't clicking. Now, the expected trade rumors have arrived, with reports that the organization has held trade talks with several teams about superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns.
According to reports, the organization is genuinely considering a move involving Towns, with the Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets, and Memphis Grizzlies all named as teams that they've had discussions with thus far. While Towns has a fantastic offensive game, this year, he hasn't been as consistent with it, and given the flaws he has on the defensive side, it's easy to see why the team may be considering moving on from him to prioritize their defense moving forward.

Ultimately, fans were divided on the Towns trade when it originally happened after they gave up Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, and while the potential was there for things to work, as of right now, it appears as though the Knicks and KAT are headed for a split.
