Nets Head Coach Jordi Fernandez Calls Out His Team For Their Lack of Effort
Nov 4, 2025
The Brooklyn Nets have struggled mightily to begin the 2025/26 season, with the team going 0-7 as they've been thoroughly outplayed in every matchup thus far. This isn't shocking, as the team lack any level of NBA talent, with the team hoping that their core of rookies could show some promise.
Struggles are one thing, but a lack of effort is another thing, and after their latest defeat, Head Coach Jordi Fernandez called out that effort as he struggles to find ways to get this team going.
“I’m failing at trying to get my guys to play hard. I'm trying to ask questions. Ask them questions. How can I do it, to get them to play really hard?”
We knew the Nets would be bad in 2025/26, but to have their Head Coach saying something like this after just a handful of games is a bad look for the organization, as they have no optimism now or for the future. There's still some talent in Brooklyn, with Cam Thomas, Michael Porter Jr. and Nicolas Claxton all taking up key roles, but without an elite leader or depth around them, it's no surprise that they're struggling.

Ultimately, these struggles aren't on Fernandez, as the front office has clearly made tanking their top priority this season, but if they continue struggling to put forth a good effort, don't be surprised to see the 2025/26 season as the last of Jordi Fernandez as the coach in Brooklyn.
