NBA Veteran Officially Departs The NBA And Signs Overseas

Alex Len was the No. 5 overall pick back in the 2013 NBA Draft, and the hope was at the time that he could develop into a two-way, rim-protecting big man. Since then, he's become a journeyman backup center in the league, spending last season with the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers, playing just seven games in that time.

In the offseason, he signed a non-guaranteed deal with the New York Knicks, but after not making the roster, he's not drawn much interest as a free agent. Now, the 32-year-old veteran's next move has been revealed, as he is reportedly set to depart North America, returning to Europe in a surprise move.

According to reports from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Len is set to sign a multi-year deal with European powerhouse Real Madrid, potentially ending his NBA career at just 32 years of age. Last season in the league, Len averaged just 2 points and 3 rebounds a game, and while he's been very productive throughout his career, with so many young talents emerging every year, there simply isn't a spot for him in the league right now.

However, there's always a chance that in a depth role, we could see Len back in the NBA someday, but as of right now, his skills are much more suited to the game in Europe, and with a multi-year deal taking him to Real Madrid, he may find his future is best suited there for good.
