NBA GM Survey: All NBA GMs Seem Incredibly High on this Young Star

The annual NBA GM survey was just released, so of course, we need to analyze all the answers. The GM survey gives NBA fans a good idea of what decision-makers in the NBA think. It can reveal who the best player, coach, and fan base are, among other things.

There was one common theme in this year’s GM survey: Victor Wembanyama is on everyone’s mind. Wembanyama is only 21 years old, has yet to play a full NBA season, and hasn’t even made the playoffs. Despite all of that, the hype is real. Wembanyama looks like, if healthy, he has the potential to be one of the greatest players of this generation and maybe ever.

So what do the NBA GMs think of Wembanyama? 80% of them voted him the best defensive player in the NBA, and 80% voted him the best interior defender in the league as well.

He was also voted fourth most likely to win next year’s MVP.

The question that Wembanyama really dominated was: “If you were starting a franchise today and could sign any player in the NBA, who would it be?”. He got 83% of the votes.

There’s no surprise there. The idea of what Wembanyama can become is tantalizing. He is probably already the best defender in the league, and he just started drinking beer.

As Wembanyama’s offensive game improves, his combination of height, ball-handling, defensive instincts, passing, and basketball IQ is going to make him one of the most dangerous and well-rounded stars in the league. The GMs know it’s coming, and everyone else should too.
