NBA Insider Makes Bold Prediction For OKC Thunder's Win-Loss Record This Season
Oct 10, 2025
At this point, it’s hard to imagine any team outdoing what the Oklahoma City Thunder accomplished last season. This squad owned the best record in the league, outlasted three talented teams from the Western Conference, and overcame a ferocious Indiana Pacers team in the NBA Finals. The face of the Thunder franchise, of course, was both regular season MVP and Finals MVP.
So maybe, just maybe, only the Thunder are capable of outdoing themselves.
If you ask NBA insider Bobby Marks, this is a distinct possibility. Speaking on “NBA Today” earlier this week, Marks gave his fearless forecast for the Thunder’s win-loss record in the 2025-26 season.
“They’re not gonna hit 60. They’re gonna hit 70 [wins],” Marks said, drawing audible reactions from Malika Andrews and the other “NBA Today” panelists. With a sly smile, Marks added, “I’m gonna put them on the spot right now.”
To Mark’s credit, his prediction isn’t exactly preposterous. Last season, the Thunder finished the regular season with a 68-14 record. Barring any major changes that would rock OKC’s foundations, a 70-12 record is certainly within reach for the defending NBA champions.
Marks, who worked as an assistant general manager for the Brooklyn Nets before becoming an ESPN personality, based his confidence on the incredible array of talent that Thunder GM Sam Presti has assembled.
“Even if there are games when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Chet Holmgren take the night off, this team has enough depth to get to 70 wins in the Western Conference,” Marks asserted.

Wowing the basketball community with their effortless display of teamwork, the Thunder were fueled last season by the likes of first-time All-Star Jalen Williams, defensive ace Lu Dort, frontcourt workhorse Isaiah Hartenstein, and former NBA champion Alex Caruso.
Now, Caruso has two NBA rings while his young teammates are relishing their first reign as the top dogs of the league. Winning the NBA Finals in June 2026 remains the ultimate goal, but on the way there, the Thunder have all the tools (plus a freshly packed supply of playoff experience) to pull off a 70-win season. Marks’ bold take, then, could end up coming to fruition.
