Luke Doncic Makes His Prediction For the Finalists of an NBA 1v1 Tournament

For quite some time now, the NBA has been changing its format during All-Star weekend, and in 2025/26, Commissioner Adam Silver is set to shake things up once more. This time, they've copied the NHL's Four Nations Face-Off, but with players showing, time and time again, they don't care to play hard over All-Star weekend, many expect this new format to fail as well.

One suggestion to bring out the best in players is a 1v1 tournament held over the weekend, and with so many dream matchups, it could capture fans' attention. With the likes of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Luka Doncic, among others, if the players were committed, this could be a hit for the NBA.

Silver is yet to entertain the idea, but if he does, Doncic believes he knows who the final two players in a potential tournament would be. During his appearance on Hot Ones on YouTube, Doncic noted that it would come down to Irving vs. young superstar Victor Wembanyama in the finals.

On paper, that would be an incredible matchup, as Wembanyama is a physical freak at 7-foot-3, while Irving has one of the deepest bags of anyone in NBA history. Unfortunately, this is something we may never see, but with so many players seemingly into the idea, dream matchups like this could hopefully become a reality one day.
