Luka Doncic Will Be Happy the Lakers Brought This Coach On

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly brought on strength and conditioning coach Jeremy Holsopple, who had previously worked with the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic.

The news was broken by long-time basketball reporter Marc Stein, who posted on his X account:

"The Lakers are hiring Jeremy Holsopple as their new head strength and conditioning coach, The Stein Line has learned. As Dallas’ athletic performance director, Holsopple was named as the NBA's top strength and conditioning coach in March 2021."

It is crucially important in the NBA these days to keep their superstar players happy. And Holsopple has an excellent reputation and has worked with Doncic before.

There has been plenty of coverage this offseason about hte committment that Doncic has made to his health and body. The Slovenian superstar has lost more than 30 poiunts and will looked to come into training camp in the best shape of his basketball career. Considering how dominant he is in the first place, that should be a frightening prospect for the Western Conference.

Doncic's numbers with the Lakers were outstanding in 2025. In his 28 games with the Lakers, the Slovenian averaged 28.2 points a game along with 7.5 assists and 8.1 rebounds.

In addition to working hard on his body, Doncic has also worked to  remodel the Lakers roster and they look to go deep in a loaded conference. The superstar has taken a more active role as a recruiter and it is said that he personally called Marcus Smart and DeAndre Ayton to urge them to join the team.
