LeBron Reflects On Tying Robert Parish's Record

Longevity is a skill in the NBA. Sure, there are players with incredible peaks, but being able to stay healthy season after season is arguably harder than having just a couple of elite years.

LeBron James has obviously been able to do both. During his 20+ year career, James has been the best player in the world for multiple years, but he’s also stayed remarkably healthy. The fact that LeBron has played this long at such a high level without ever suffering from a major injury is one of the things that makes him so special.

LeBron etched his name into the record books once again this week. He just tied Robert Parish for the most regular-season games played ever. He will pass that number and be the sole record holder soon.

Lebron spoke about his accomplishment and what it means to tie Parish’s long-standing record.

"Availability. I've always wanted to be available to my teammates either in Cleveland, (Miami) and now in LA. It's a mental toll man trying to play a lot...Shoutout chief man. I've been seeing some of the things that he's been saying about me. It's not a lot of those OGs that talk like that to the generation after them and also about me personally. He's super cool, he dope. I like him.”

LeBron knows that it isn’t easy to do what he’s done. It took a ton of hard work, focus on health, and a bit of luck to last as long as he has. While LeBron might not be compatible to Parish as a player, both guys can look at one another and know they achieved something no other player has.
