Kris Dunn Talks About Potential of Landing on All-Defensive Team

Kris Dunn narrowly missed out on an All-Defensive Team selection last season. He was barely under the games played/playing time requirement, and wasn’t eligible. Despite that, many think that Dunn was one of the best defenders in the league last season. He helped an aging Clippers roster become one of the best defensive teams in the league. This season he is doing much of the same, but in even more minutes and games played.

Dunn was asked about his thoughts on making an All-Defensive Team after Kawhi Leonard said that he should be considered for the honor.

“It doesn’t matter what I think, either. There were times that I felt like I did a well job defensively. But at the end of the day, whoever votes for the award, votes for the award. So I don’t really try to get into that. But I’m very appreciative of my teammates for Kawhi and T-Lue to advocate for me. “I don’t really try to get into that stuff and the voters. I’m just appreciative of the front office, T-Lue and my teammates. They know what I bring to the table. I just try to keep doing it each and every night…It would mean a lot to me. I take pride in defense. Each and every night, I love guarding the best players. It gets my blood going. It just does something for me. So to bring that back home to my family, especially with what we went through in my career, it would be a super honor.”

Dunn isn’t guaranteed to make the All-Defensive team but he is certainly in the running. There are a ton of players who could be considered for the 10 spots on the list but Dunn’s name is on the shortlist. The last few weeks of the season, and where the Clippers end up in the NBA standings, could determine whether Dunn is finally honored or narrowly misses the cut again.
