Warriors Pick Up Solid Starting Center in this Bold Trade Idea

The Golden State Warriors are going to need to make some changes if they want to get out of the Play-In Tournament. As of Tuesday, they are 15–15, the 8th seed in the Western Conference, and in need of some serious roster overhaul.

Their current group isn’t good enough, and the Warriors don’t want to waste the rest of Stephen Curry’s career. That’s why the Warriors trade rumors are saying that they will be aggressive at this year’s NBA trade deadline in order to find some upgrades. They specifically need to get bigger, so many of their targets are the available centers on the trade market.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed “1 Trade Every NBA Team Would Make If the Deadline Was Today,” and his Warriors’ trade idea would land them the perfect starting center.

“The trade: Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski to the Milwaukee Bucks for Myles Turner…

The Dubs need functional size on the interior, but they don't want to spoil their spacing to get it. That's the whole reason why sophomore center Quinten Post already has a dozen starts this season.

Turner would basically be a turbo-charged version of the same sharpshooting mold, only with intimidating rim protection added to the mix. He's a two-time blocks champion who has converted 39.2 percent of his perimeter shots since last season. His unicorn game is a clean enough fit for them to give up on whatever they think the future holds for Kuminga and Podziemski.”

While the Warriors might be hesitant to get rid of Brandin Podziemski, this is the type of trade they need to make. Turner is a proven contributor to a contending team, something that Podz and Kuminga have yet to prove they are capable of.

Turner would give the Warriors a solid rim protector for the first time in a long time, giving Draymond Green the ability to roam around on defense freely.

Getting rid of the first two homegrown picks would be hard for the Warriors, but these are the types of trades they need to be making if they are serious about building one final contending team around Curry.
