What Is Going On With Draymond Green And Steve Kerr?

On Monday, the Golden State Warriors blew out the Orlando Magic 120-97. But, at this point, NBA fans don’t care about the Magic being held to 25.9% from deep or the Warriors getting their record back to .500.

Instead, everyone is talking about the walkout.

During a timeout in the third quarter, Draymond Green and head coach Steve Kerr were seen arguing on the Warriors' bench. Thanks to the enhancements offered by technology, social media user LegendZ was able to transcribe some of the words exchanged in this altercation.

At one point in the timeout, Green exclaimed, “F*** you!” at his head coach over the past decade. This prompted Kerr to fire back with, “Hey Draymond, if you don’t want me to talk to you, then go home!”

Moses Moody, who was a rookie when Green and Kerr won their fourth title in the Bay Area, did what he could to pacify the former Defensive Player of the Year. "Come on, Dray," the fifth-year pro said. Still, Green kept jawing at an exasperated Kerr, who asked, "How am I supposed to coach you, Dray?"

Green ended up rising from his seat and heading to the locker room. Making no effort to call Green back, Kerr went back to diagramming his after-timeout play.

Both Green and Kerr tried their best to brush off the situation in their respective post-game interviews. “He made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off. That’s all,” Kerr told reporters. “We need Draymond. He’s a champion. We’ve been together for a long time. It’s unfortunate what happened, but it happened.”

Kerr also clarified that, even when Green returned to the bench in the fourth quarter, he wouldn’t have sent the four-time All-Star back out on the court.

As for Green, he acknowledged that emotions were at work when he stormed out of the Warriors' bench. "I just thought it was best that I get out of there," he said during the media availability. "I don't think there was a situation where it was going to get better… s*** happens. We move forward. We're alright."

But are they, really?

The Christmas Day game between the Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks just got even more interesting. It will be interesting to see if Green and Kerr will partake of holiday cheer or be each other’s Grinch on that night.
