Former Warriors Star Says Steph Curry Should Have Been More Vocal During Kerr-Green Argument

This week, the NBA world watched in awe as Draymond Green walked out of a Golden State Warriors huddle, never to be seen again in his team’s matchup against the Orlando Magic.

There’s a wide range of opinions on Green’s actions towards his head coach, Steve Kerr, and the rest of the team. For an ex-Warriors star, however, attention should be drawn to what was not done by the longtime face of the franchise.

Dropping by SiriusXM NBA Radio on Christmas Eve, Tim Hardaway Sr. called out Steph Curry for not doing more while Green and Kerr were going at it in that fateful third-quarter timeout.

“Steph should have been the one standing up in that huddle, not somebody else,” Hardaway argued. “Steph should have been like, ‘Yo Dray, that’s enough, man.’”

Like millions of other netizens, Hardaway saw in the viral clip that it was actually fifth-year player Moses Moody who stood over Green, trying to get him to back down. As for Curry, who is in his 17th season with the Warriors, he remained in his seat right beside Green.

Hardaway, a ’90s star who formed one-third of the famous TMC group, was not pleased with what he saw from the NBA’s all-time king of threes. “Don’t be sitting down there, catching your breath, thinking, ‘Here we go again,’” he said.

In the past, Kerr has been caught on camera expressing his disappointment with Green, who makes irrational decisions on the court every now and then. To Kerr’s credit, he has learned to manage Green’s temperament, along with the egos of all the other stars who have played for him, to the tune of four NBA championships over the past decade.

Hardaway, however, recognized that fans might not be seeing the entire picture in this situation. “Steph isn’t that type of person, but we don’t know what he said in the back after the game,” he admitted.

The next time that Curry, Green, and Kerr will be seen in public once again, they’ll be taking on Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks in a Christmas Day showdown. In all likelihood, Hardaway will keep his eyes and ears peeled for Curry’s vocal leadership, Green’s self-control, and Kerr’s demeanor.
