Draymond Names the One Thing He Would Change About the NBA

NBA players are taking the narratives into their own hands. Instead of allowing reporters to hypothesize and decide what they believe NBA players think, players are starting to make their voices heard through their own podcasts and shows.

Draymond Green was one of the players at the forefront of this new trend. Draymond has had his own podcast for years, and he regularly goes on and gives his unfiltered opinions on various NBA topics.

Recently, Green went on and talked about what he would like to change if he could change one thing about the NBA. His answer wasn’t very shocking.

“I think for me there would be more transparency with refereeing. In my opinion, I think that would be great for the league. It’s kind of this like everybody see everything on front street except this thing. And yet this the people question the most. So why is everything that happens in the NBA on front street in front of the world for everyone to see except what happens with referees? So I would say there would be more transparency and straightforwardness with what’s happening with referees. When they’re missing calls, when things don’t seem right, what happens? Like we don’t know. But when the player does something wrong, you know right away.”

Draymond’s relationship with referees has always been iffy. While he is a very personable and friendly guy off the court, Draymond is known for on-court tantrums, fights, and challenging referees. This has earned him a reputation with the refereeing community. On one hand, it seems like referees let Draymond say more without consequence than many other NBA players. However, they are also sometimes quick to send him to the locker room.

Maybe if there were more transparency with the referees, like Draymond wants, he wouldn’t get as many technicals and ejections.
