DeMarcus Cousins Calls Out Knicks Star For Not Defending Himself Against Desmond Bane
Dec 8, 2025
The New York Knicks and Orlando Magic played a tight, tough, hard-fought contest on Sunday, and in this encounter, it was the Knicks that came out on top at Madison Square Garden. The game wasn't without controversy, however, as star wing Franz Wagner went down with an injury after Ariel Hukporti challenged a layup at the rim.
That led to plenty of intensity and physicality throughout the game, with one moment in particular involving Desmond Bane and OG Anunoby going viral on social media.
The moment saw Bane get a technical foul for simply throwing the ball at OG as he lay on the ground following a collision of his own at the rim. After that, there was some pushing and shoving between the two teams, but now, DeMarcus Cousins has called out Anunoby for not doing more to stand up for himself in the moment.
"I'm not saying punch him in the face, but maybe slap the sh*t out of him."
As we've learned from his career in the NBA, that's simply not the type of person that Anunoby is on or off the court, and while he could have done more, he reacted with a level head in the moment.

After the game, the two hugged it out, meaning that there's no bad blood between them, but rather a moment of madness between Bane and Anunoby, and no matter what someone like Cousins says, this simply isn't the type of player that the Knicks veteran is.
