Miami Heat Reportedly Eyeing A Trade For A Superstar Point Guard From The West
Dec 8, 2025
Ja Morant's name has been in trade rumours for much of the 2025/26 season thus far, and while he remains in Memphis, many believe that it's a matter of when, not if he is officially traded by the team. As of right now, the star point guard remains sidelined with an injury, but that hasn't stopped the rumours over his future in the NBA.
We've already heard that Minnesota, Sacramento and other teams are interested in acquiring the former No. 2 overall pick, and now, another heavyweight has entered the fray. According to reporter Jake Fischer, the Miami Heat have now had internal discussions about Morant, and whether he would be a fit with the team if they decided to make a move for him.
“Miami was already shaping into a surprising buyer on this trade market even before this week's Giannis headlines. League sources say that the Heat, for example, have had internal discussions about Memphis' Ja Morant and how Miami's infrastructure could benefit him.”
Clearly, the Heat are looking for a major upgrade at some point in the near future, and whether that's Morant or a bigger swing for Giannis Antetokounmpo or a similar player, they're going to be in on all of the big names.

With a record of 14-10 early in the season, the Heat are showing plenty of potential, and if they can acquire a star to add to this roster, they're going to become a major threat in the Eastern Conference.
