UConn Coach Dan Hurley Keeps The Door Open To Potential Jump To The NBA

For years now, we've seen coaches make the jump from the NCAA to the NBA, and while sometimes it works out in a big way, others unfortunately can't quite seem to adjust to the professional game. Over the past 15 years, the most notable success stories to make the jump are Billy Donovan and Brad Stevens, and as of late, there's been plenty of talk about one coach in particular making the move.

That would be University of Connecticut Head Coach Dan Hurley, who is one of the most polarizing Head Coaches in the entire sport of basketball. On Monday, Hurley's UConn team fell short in the National Championship Game against the University of Michigan, but before that game began, Hurley took to an interview to comment on his future, leaving the door open to an NBA run one day.

“I’m the UConn coach until the end, and maybe the NBA someday down the line.”

At 53-years of age, Hurley has been the coach of the Huskies since 2018, posting a record of 199-75 over that time, becoming one of the most respected coaches in the sport during that span.

However, with his outlandish nature and over the top personality, there are those that believe he wouldn't be a fit at the NBA level, especially given that he would be dealing with grown men making much, much more money than those at the NCAA level. Ultimately though, it appears to be a matter of when, not if Hurley makes the jump to the NBA, and while he's kept that door open, as of right now, he appears committed to UConn.
