Three Warriors Free Agency Signings That Could Happen This Week
Sep 15, 2025
The Golden State Warriors' stalemate with Jonathan Kuminga continues. ESPN’s recent Kuminga update further shows that their contract negotiations may be coming to a head soon. Supposedly, the Warriors have upped their outstanding offer to Kuminga. Kuminga and his team don’t believe it is strong enough.
Once the Kuminga contract negotiations end, however, the Warriors will need to fill their roster quickly. Here are three NBA free agents that the Warriors are likely to sign as soon as the Kuminga deal is done. If Kuminga signs soon, these dominoes could even fall this week.

Al Horford
Everyone knows that the Warriors and Al Horford have been linked since the beginning of free agency. Many expect that there is already a handshake deal in place, and the two sides are only waiting on Kuminga’s contract to determine how much the Warriors can offer Horford. Expect Horford to play for the Warriors next season, no matter what happens with Kuminga.
De’Anthony Melton
This Warriors free agency signing would also not surprise many. Melton was having an incredible season for the Warriors before tearing his ACL and being traded to Brooklyn. He supposedly has already had talks about rejoining the Warriors. If healthy, Melton would be a huge addition to the Warriors' opening-day roster. His defense and shooting fit perfectly with Stephen Curry. He also supposedly became quite tight with the Warriors' core veterans. There’s a good chance for a Warriors-Melton reunion this offseason.
Gary Payton II
The Warriors' re-signing of Gary Payton II isn’t all that exciting, but it is likely. GP2 has been a staple on the Warriors' bench since 2021. The Warriors' fans, players, and organization all love him, and he has been a solid role player throughout. Unfortunately, although this Warriors free agent signing is likely, it may not help them much. GP2 has lost a step defensively and can no longer guard the quickest guards in the NBA. That makes him so much less useful to the Warriors, and we will likely see his impact continue to diminish next season.
