Clippers Owner Steve Ballmer Officially Addresses Kawhi Leonard Controversy
Sep 6, 2025
Kawhi Leonard has been the talk of the NBA in recent times after Pablo Torre revealed a report that accused the Clippers star of receiving $28 million from a sponsor. That $28 million was reportedly from Steve Ballmer, the team owner who invested in the company, with the team accused of circumventing the salary cap to make the deal happen.
However, the team released a statement that denied any wrong doing in the situation, despite how things may look from the outside.
Now, team owner Steve Ballmer has addressed the situation head on, stating that he was scammed by the company as well, and that the Clippers had nothing to do with Leonard's $28 million+ payments.
"Since the day I bought the team...we've really emphasized doing things the right way...we welcome the league investigation. We have nothing to hide."
Ballmer reveals that he and the Clippers organization welcome an investigation by the NBA, as they believe that they have nothing to hide in this situation. So far, we've heard very little from the NBA, with Torre revealing that there's genuine panic within the league after his shocking report was officially made public.

From the moment this came out however, Ballmer and the Clippers were straight up that nothing from their end involved wrong doing, and now, we simply wait to hear about the NBA's investigation to reveal what truly went on here.
Ultimately, this situation is one of the most shocking we've seen in recent years, and if it's revealed that Ballmer and the Clippers did have knowledge and/or had a role, the consequences could be dire.
