Terry Rozier's Agent Makes Statement After Client's Arrest in NBA Gambling Scandal
Oct 24, 2025
The NBA world was turned on its head this week with the news that multiple players, current and former, have been arrested by the FBI for involvement in illegal sports gambling and poker games.
Among those named (and arrested) in this case is Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier. Rozier was reported to be involved in some kind of gambling-related controversy over a year ago, but the NBA investigated Rozier and found no wrongdoing on his part.
Now, a statement released by his lawyer doubles down on the fact that Rozier is innocent of whatever the FBI is claiming he is involved in.
"We have represented Terry Rozier for over a year. A long time ago, we reached out to these prosecutors to tell them we should have an open line of communication. They characterized Terry as a subject, not a target, but at 6 a.m. this morning, they called to tell me FBI agents were trying to arrest him in a hotel. It is unfortunate that instead of allowing him to self-surrender, they opted for a photo op. They wanted the misplaced glory of embarrassing a professional athlete with a perp walk. That tells you a lot about the motivations in this case. They appear to be taking the word of spectacularly incredible sources rather than relying on actual evidence of wrongdoing. Terry was cleared by the NBA, and these prosecutors revived that non-case. Terry is not a gambler, but he is not afraid of a fight, and he looks forward to winning this fight."

While this statement shows confidence in Rozier’s case, the facts that are coming out are certainly damning. We will continue to follow this story as it continues, as it could be one of the biggest NBA stories of the season.
