Russell Westbrook Officially Finds A New Home in the NBA

The NBA offseason has been a long one, and while most teams are already set with their rosters ahead of the 2025–26 campaign, there are still some big names out there. Those names include Malik Beasley, Ben Simmons, and Russell Westbrook—until Wednesday, as one big domino finally fell.

After months of speculation, the former MVP Russell Westbrook finally found his new home, inking a deal with an intriguing Western Conference contender.

According to ESPN, the Sacramento Kings are finally making it official, as they are signing Westbrook to a free-agency deal that will see him go around again for his 18th season in the NBA. Last year with the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook averaged an impressive 13, 5, and 6 in 28 minutes across 75 games, and while he's not the player he once was, he can still be very productive in the NBA.

However, there have been criticisms over his overall game, and with the veteran sometimes being too ball dominant, the team will have to work out how things are going to play out with the Kings this season, and quickly.

In Sacramento, he'll join a very talented lineup that includes Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Keegan Murray, and with the former MVP joining the ranks, this is a dark-horse team in the Western Conference. It's unclear why it took so long for Sacramento and Westbrook to get a deal done, as they've clearly coveted him all summer long, but with the new season right around the corner, they've finally landed him, increasing their optimism ahead of the new year.
