NBA Insider Believes This Forward Has Sky-Rocketed His Trade Value

Your perceived value in the NBA can change in an instant. Sometimes it’s because you’ve signed a new contract that people either believe is undervalued or overvalued. Or you may have added a new aspect to your game that makes you much more valuable. Maybe your age or injuries are making people less interested in your services.

For Michael Porter Jr., he is used to his value going up and down. At one point, he was the most hyped prospect in his draft class. Many believed he was going to be the number-one overall pick. Then injury issues had his draft stock dive, and he was picked in the middle of the first round.

One NBA insider believes that once again, MPJ’s stock is on the move. This time, though, it is rising, and rapidly. This is what Tim Legler said on the Bill Simmons Podcast about MPJ’s recent play increasing his trade value.

“I really believe in just conversations that I’m having, I think the guy’s completely changed his trade status in terms of attractiveness to teams. I think people thought, ok, you kind of knew what Michael Porter was. The fact that he can do this offensively... I do think now there’s probably more teams that would look at him that are sort of those middle-of-the-road playoff teams, and go, man, that would be nice to add that kind of scoring punch.”

MPJ’s contract extension in Brooklyn and the fact that the Nuggets seemed all too comfortable with letting him go made him a much less desirable trade asset. Now he’s having a career year, and once again, there are teams lining up for his services.
