Paolo Banchero Names Raptors Star As 'One He'd Love To Play With

The Orlando Magic have built up quite the impressive young core, and after being a playoff team a year ago, many saw this team as a future threat in the Eastern Conference. However, in 2025/26 they've taken a step back, as they currently find themselves in a play-in spot, with the core not being quite as consistent as those within the organization had hoped.

One player that can't be blamed for that is the face of the franchise, Paolo Banchero, as he has once again been at his best this season, establishing himself as an All-Star caliber player in the NBA. After being the No. 1 overall pick, Banchero has found his game at the top level, and in 64 games this season, he's averaging a very impressive 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists per game.

After recently taking on the Toronto Raptors, Banchero was asked about that young squad, and in doing so, he named Scottie Barnes as a player that he'd love to one day play with.

“That’s a guy you would love to play with, just off the strength of how he contributes to his team. He’s not really ever caught up in the scoring. He’s always trying to look to find others, guards at a high level, picks up full court. He’s always been a super impactful player in my eyes in terms of the stuff he does for the team. He’s just a winning player.”

On paper, the duo would be a perfect fit, and while they're both the center of rebuilding franchise's, if either became available, they'd be amazing next to each other.

For now though, they'll have to remain rivals, but given how well both have performed since arriving in the NBA, it's no surprise that they've admired each other from afar early in their careers.
