New York Knicks To Miss Two Key Stars For Season Opener
Oct 22, 2025
The New York Knicks are considered a top contender in the Eastern Conference this season, and on Wednesday, they begin their season against another top team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. This will begin a new Knicks season after they fell just one step short of the NBA Finals a season ago, and with a new head coach in charge, hopes are high that this is the year they return to the Finals.
Unfortunately, the start to the new season comes with plenty of injuries, as the team has announced that two key pieces will miss their opener against the Cavaliers.
According to the team, both Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson will not be available for the season opener, and while neither is considered a long-term injury, given the Knicks' poor run of luck with injuries in recent years, this isn't a good sign. Last season, Robinson appeared in just 17 games for the Knicks, and while this may spark worry among fans, the goal for this team is to have him healthy in the playoffs after how effective he was for this team in their 2025 run.

As for Hart, he's dealt with numerous injuries in recent years, but for the most part, he's continued to fight through and become a key piece of this team's rotation. Fortunately for New York, both of these injuries will be short-term ones, and with stars like Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way, they've got the talent to survive this early in the season.
