SGA's Teammate Explains Why He Should Win MVP
Apr 2, 2026
This season’s MVP race is finally heating up. It seemed early on that it would be another season trying to decide between Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander again. Then injuries shook up the race, making some players nearly ineligible for the award. In the last few weeks, it was shaken up once again when Victor Wembanyama claimed that he deserved the award. He’s also turned his game up a notch to prove it.
That all being said, SGA is still the favorite to win the award for the second straight season. SGA is having a historically efficient season, and the Thunder are dominating the standings once again.

One of SGA’s teammates recently explained why he thinks his captain deserves another MVP award.
“You gotta look at the body of work. Throughout the season, he’s carried us to victories. In the same sense, he’s been the most clutch player in the NBA. If you look at the body of work from this entire season… He’s the best player on the court every single night… I don’t think there’s too much of a conversation if you look at the body of work. He’s not chasing stats. He’s out there playing to make sure his team is the best.”
Aaron Wiggins is making a good point. SGA is dominating and making it look effortless. Unlike Wembanyama, he isn’t trying to prove himself or pitch himself to the media. He’s just putting in the work and winning games for his team.
SGA will likely win the award for this reason. He’s been amazing, but on top of that, his team is dominating and he is their leader.
