Minnesota Timberwolves Potentially Set To Sell High On Julius Randle

The Minnesota Timberwolves are building a very solid core, and with some deep runs in the Western Conference lately, they're a team that is potentially on the verge of an NBA Finals run. However, this is a team that has some holes on it, and recently, it was speculated that they would look for an upgrade at the point guard spot, with only Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels seen as true untouchables in trade talks.

Now, further details have emerged on their potential trade plans this season, with Brett Siegel reporting that the team could potentially sell high on Julius Randle after a fantastic start to 2025/26.

“There is a growing sense that the Timberwolves will sell high on Julius Randle should the right star become available before February. However, the problem with Minnesota is that they don't have any first-round picks they can trade outright, which would be problematic with pursuing Morant or another star guard.”

In his second season with Minnesota, Randle is averaging 23 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6 assists a game, and while he's always had this ability, he's playing at a high class level in 2025/26. While some see him as a key piece to a Championship, if the Timberwolves can use him as a trade piece to acquire an upgrade at point guard, that may be the move to make.

As of right now, it's unclear what the market is for Randle, but as a three-time NBA All Star who is off to a great start, if the team want to sell high on him, now is their opportunity.
