Klay Thompson Reveals His Biggest Piece Of Advice For Rookie Cooper Flagg

Cooper Flagg entered the 2025 NBA Draft as a 'can't miss' prospect, with the hype surrounding him unmatched over the past two years, as many have kept their eyes on him dating back to the time he was a promising 14-year-old. Through five games, Flagg has shown immense potential, posting a 13/6/3 mark in that time, and while the sky is the limit, it's safe to say that there's plenty of pressure on his shoulders.

Not according to Klay Thompson, however, as the veteran guard has revealed the advice he gave to Flagg heading into this season, hoping to take some of that pressure away from the rising star.

"I just told him, 'Your rookie year is like a free shot. You don't need to have any expectations.'"

While all of the attention in the league is on the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Flagg has started his season very well, and as the year goes on and his responsibilities grow, he's expected to take a major leap. With his size, athleticism, and ability on both ends of the floor, Flagg could genuinely be a generational star, and with Kyrie Irving set to return, this team can be a major threat in 2025–26.

Ultimately, there are expectations for Flagg, but we've seen players not find their footing for a few years in the NBA, and if he listens to Thompson's advice and plays a care-free game in his rookie campaign, we could see Flagg blossom very early in his career.
