Jaylen Brown Calls Out NBA Officials For Giving Some Players Preferential Treatment
Jan 15, 2026
Jaylen Brown has never been one to shy away from the spotlight, as he's spent plenty of his NBA career directly calling people out, whether that be opposing coaches, players, or even the officials. Recently, he went on a tirade calling out officials for a bad game involving the Celtics, and now, he's taken it a step further.
While it's been a long-held belief from NBA fans that the league and the officials favor some players, no one has ever called it out until now, as Brown went on a tirade calling out the NBA officials for their favoritism.
"I do the same things that they do. They just pick and choose who they like to call it on. That's the part that pisses me off. It should just be everybody should just get reffed evenly and consistently, but it just seems like there's an agenda where some guys they choose to call certain fouls for, some guys they don't. So I don't know what goes into that decision-making, but it's kind of clear that certain guys on certain teams, certain markets, or certain profiles get preferential treatment versus others when it should just be basketball."
This time around, Brown didn't provide the names of the players he believes get that treatment, but given the way games are called for the Oklahoma City Thunder, fans certainly have their own beliefs as to one team that gets favored.

As of right now, it's unclear whether or not Brown will hear from the league's office about his latest comments, but for many fans who have been frustrated, it's a great thing that players are noticing what fans have been noticing for years now.
