Jalen Brunson Talks About Adjusting to the New Knicks Offensive System
Oct 8, 2025
The New York Knicks are going to change things up offensively this season. After multiple successful seasons under Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks’ front office and ownership decided they wanted to take their team in a new direction.
Much of that decision may have been because of Thibodeau’s lack of offensive creativity and tendency to lean too heavily on his stars.
The Knicks now have Mike Brown at the helm, and he has already started implementing a new system to bring the Knicks’ new look on offense next season. Jalen Brunson spoke with the New York Daily News about how he feels in this new (and hopefully improved) system.
“I’m comfortable…We’re still adjusting, and that’s the process of this entire season. You’re not just gonna be who you are at the end of training camp. You’re gonna continue to get better throughout the season. So I think the longer that we go through this and understand what’s needed and asked of us, the better we’re gonna be.”

It sounds like while not everything is perfect yet, things are clicking for Brunson.
Mike Brown said this of Brunson’s adjustment to the new system: “Jalen, he’s starting to adjust. You can see it..I think this is gonna be good for him. You can see how much space he has when he brings the ball, and again, if you want to pressure a guy like Jalen with that much space, there’s a pretty good chance that he can make you pay for it.”
If Brown’s new offensive schemes can help take some of the pressure off of Brunson and distribute it among their other talented guys, the Knicks could be really dangerous next season.
The Knicks may fail to adjust well to the new flow of things. Tom Thibodeau will be vindicated if that is the case.
