Golden State Reportedly Preparing to Chase Two Top Stars in the Summer of 2027
Sep 16, 2025
The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most successful franchises in the modern NBA, and with Steph Curry still going strong, the future remains bright for this team. In the last year, the team has added Jimmy Butler and appears to be on the verge of bringing in Al Horford, too, and they have no plans of losing star power anytime soon.
According to reports from Sam Amick, the Warriors have their eyes on free agency in 2027, which features both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic, with the team preserving its cap space heading into that off-season.
“They want to maintain maximum flexibility for that 2027 summer (as it stands, they only have Moody’s $13.4 million and Hield’s $10 million player option on the books by then). The Warriors, who are well aware that Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo and Denver’s Nikola Jokic both have player options for the 2027-28 season, are hardly alone on this star-hunting front. High-profile teams like the Lakers and Clippers have sent similar signals in recent months.”
Clearly, these are the two best players in the NBA right now, and if the Warriors want to keep their successful decade going, landing either of them would be a massive coup.

Right now, both players are the face of their current franchise, so they may never end up getting to free agency, but if they do, the Warriors will be one of many teams chasing them, with a great chance to land one of the league's biggest stars.
