Draymond Green Breaks Silence About Kuminga Contract Negotiations

The Jonathan Kuminga contract negotiations are starting to frustrate everyone. Not just the Warriors organization and Kuminga’s camp, but fans are starting to get fed up with the lack of movement and lack of real news on what is going on.

What fans are most angry about is the fact that it is just a few weeks from NBA training camp, and the Warriors have an incomplete team. With Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler on your roster, an NBA championship needs to be the top priority. It is hard to see a team that doesn’t even know what it will look like next season being ready to start a title run.

Many are also wondering what the Warriors players think about the Kuminga contract situation and the lack of Warriors free agency signings. After a recent Kuminga update from ESPN, conversations were reignited.

This time, Warriors forward Draymond Green gave his two cents about the situation. On Twitter, he said, “Negotiations are rarely easy, but they usually get done in the end.”

This could be interpreted as encouraging. If Draymond thinks that a deal will eventually get done, it is worth listening to. Draymond supposedly has reached out to Kuminga this offseason. Hopefully, he copied some of his famous recruiting that helped land the Warriors' Kevin Durant in 2016.

It is also encouraging that Draymond seems understanding, if not sympathetic, to Kuminga’s situation. Regardless of whether Kuminga takes the qualifying offer or signs a longer-term deal, Kuminga will likely play for the Warriors next season. The Warriors veterans need to make sure Kuminga feels comfortable and is playing his best if they are going to have any chance of competing for a title.
