Dwight Howard Discusses the Differences Between His Greatest Teammates

Dwight Howard is one of the greatest centers in NBA history. Whether you agree with that statement or not, Howard is now in the Hall of Fame, and that deserves a certain level of respect.

Along with his Hall of Fame career, Dwight got to spend some of his latter years playing with two of the greatest players to ever play. Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Recently on the Club 520 Podcast, Dwight was asked about the differences between these two great teammates.

"Kobe [Bryant] an a**hole… He don’t give a f*ck. [LeBron James] give a f*ck— he want everybody to like him. He want to joke around, laugh, [and] have a good time. I just think they two ends of the spectrum…Scoring wise you gotta go with Kobe… With everything combined, you gotta give it to LeBron. Scoring wise I gotta say I like Kobe. Late in the game I’m giving the ball to Kobe.”

It’s hard to argue with Dwight on this one. He got to play with both of these players during his career, and teammates are a great gauge of a player's greatness. However, in this situation, Dwight’s perspective may be slightly skewed.

Dwight won a championship with LeBron. He may not have been at the absolute peak of his powers, but LeBron was still able to lead a team to an NBA championship.

With Kobe, Dwight had a very different experience. Despite being the heavy favorites to win the 2012-13 NBA championship, the Lakers, led by Dwight and Kobe, were a complete failure. So, while many agree that LeBron is better than Kobe ever was, Dwight’s seasons with those two players were polar opposites.
