Donovan Mitchell Has Surprising Inspiration For Big Game Wednesday Night

Mitchell revealed a surprising source of motivation before Wednesday night’s game.

After years in the league it can be hard to get motivated to perform every night. 82 games plus the playoffs is a long haul and sometimes players need to look around for inspiration to play hard.

This is exactly what happened on Wednesday with Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell is an All-Star and has had some huge NBA games and some big moments in his career. However, it’s early November and Mitchell isn’t focusing on his own play right now.

The Cavaliers have huge goals for this season. They exploded onto the contender scene last year with a 60+ win season. Then they were eliminated early in the playoffs due to injuries.

Now with the Eastern Conference as open for the taking as ever, the Cavaliers are primed to grab the Eastern Conference crown.

Still, Donovan Mitchell used some extra motivation Wednesday night to have a huge game.

"This kid pissed me off today. I was playing 2K. I told him too I was like wait just wait. And he just called me washed up, he called me a bunch of things but I love it. He saying he ain't seen a highlight from me in a minute and I just told him alright we'll see. This game was for that kid or grown man whoever that was so I appreciate you. I told him I'd give him a shoutout too"

Hey, whatever gets you going gets you going. For Mitchell, a little trash talk during a video game ended up causing him to have his best game of the season. He scored 46 points, had eight assists and four rebounds in the Cavaliers’ win.
