Anthony Edwards Makes His Debut Back From Injury

The Minnesota Timberwolves survived their star’s four-game absence. Edwards missed time with a hamstring strain, and the Timberwolves went 2-2 while he was away. On Wednesday night, Edwards returned to the lineup for the Wolves as they took on the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.

In the end, the Knicks spoiled Anthony Edwards’ return with a 137–114 win over the Timberwolves. The Knicks were led by OG Anunoby’s 25 points and Jalen Brunson’s 23 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. Julius Randle added 32 points to continue his excellent play of late. However, the Knicks dominated the second half and kept the game out of reach.

Edwards wasn’t too special in his return. He scored only 15 points and had five assists and two rebounds in the game.

While the return wasn’t stellar, it is still great for the Wolves to have Edwards back in the lineup. Randle did a good job holding down the fort, but if the Wolves want to compete in the Western Conference, they need Edwards at full power.

Good news for the Wolves is that their next few games are a perfect opportunity to get Edwards back in his groove and their record back on track. In their next nine games, the Wolves play the Kings three times, the Jazz twice, the Wizards, the Mavericks, and the Suns. All of these teams are far from title contenders and should allow for very winnable games for the Wolves.

The Wolves also need to be careful with Edwards as well. Hamstring strains can be a difficult injury to manage. The Wolves will be monitoring him over the next few games to make sure he is fully healthy and able to move forward into the season ready to dominate.
