Utah Jazz Rookie Ace Bailey Dealing With Brutal Injury
Oct 14, 2025
The Utah Jazz took a major risk in the 2025 NBA Draft when they selected Ace Bailey in the first round, despite him and his representation trying to force him elsewhere. This was seen as a risky move around the league, but the Jazz were confident in their move, seeing the talented scoring guard as a key piece of the organization’s future.
While he's shown off his potential in summer league and the preseason, he's also unfortunately dealing with some injury issues that may end up hampering him long term, per the latest report from Andy Larsen.
According to Larsen, the 19-year-old is dealing with tendinitis in not one, but both of his knees, and unfortunately, it appears to be something that is affecting him significantly heading into his rookie campaign. However, head coach Will Hardy reveals it's something that they're not too worried about, although they'll have to try and take care of him throughout the year.
"It is nothing that we’re overly concerned with. He is not going to be getting imaged or anything like that. It is just trying to take care of him. He was a little sore during his second stint.”

Despite all of this, the organization clearly believes heavily in Bailey, who averaged 18 points on 46% shooting a year ago at Rutgers, and given the risk that they took in drafting him No. 5 overall, it's safe to say that they'll do whatever they can to keep him on the floor.
