Former NBA Champion Doesn't Think Giannis Should Push Himself to Return

Giannis Antetokounmpo is back. After nursing a hamstring injury over the last few weeks, Giannis has made his return, giving the Milwaukee Bucks hope that their season isn’t completely over yet.

Right now, the Bucks are the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-35. They are five games out of the 10-seed, and 7.5 games back from avoiding the Play-In Tournament completely. It’s going to be a grind for the Bucks to even have a chance to make the playoffs.

That’s why some people think that Giannis shouldn’t have come back and instead should have taken extra time to heal from his injury. Danny Green recently shared his thoughts on whether Giannis should be playing right now.

“It just sounds crazy. They’re pushing for a play in, like Giannis is pushing for that sentence doesn’t make sense to me. He has been injured, but usually like his teams that he’s been on. And the impact even with his presence like even when he’s not there. The teams that he’s been on they’ve been able to be afloat and be decent. And when he comes back, usually it’s like, “All right, I’m back, you know type of statement game. They just got smoked by Chicago, who I don’t know what the hell they did at the trade deadline. They just traded for anybody. Then they get smacked by Boston with some of their best players not playing.”

Green thinks even with Giannis, the Bucks aren’t going to be good enough to make the playoffs. If that’s the case, then Giannis has an even better excuse to leave this summer, which is exactly what everyone is expecting to happen anyway.
