New York Knicks Hint At Major Lineup Change Ahead Of the 2025/26 NBA Season
Oct 14, 2025
The New York Knicks came so close to returning to the NBA Finals in 2024–25, but once more they fell short at the final hurdle, losing to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals in heartbreaking fashion. This offseason, they decided to make some major changes, with the NBA world rocked by the news that they moved on from head coach Tom Thibodeau, who helped turn the franchise around over the past several years.
With Mike Brown taking over, there have been question marks over what changes they're looking to make, with the team needing to take the final step. Now, we've potentially got an insight into one major change coming, with the team opting to use Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson together during the preseason.
That would see Towns return to the power forward spot, a role he played in Minnesota alongside Rudy Gobert, and with a defensive anchor in Robinson, that could be the change that this team needs. However, we saw OG Anunoby play plenty of power forward last season, and with Robinson's health always a question, there's likely going to be plenty of changes and experiments early in the season under Mike Brown.
Regardless of their starting lineup, this is a Knicks team with all the talent needed to be an NBA Finals team in 2026, and if they can find the right starting lineup and the right rotations, there's no reason why they can't be a top contender in the Eastern Conference.
