JJ Redick Clears the Air On Viral Fight With Luka Doncic

All eyes have been on the Los Angeles Lakers this season. While LeBron James’ career starts to wind down, Luka Doncic has become the new face of the Lakers franchise. While it is his first full season with the team, everyone is wondering just how things will go for Luka in LA. That’s why when Luka was shown fighting with coach JJ Redick on the sideline during a recent game, everyone started to wonder if there was trouble brewing in LA. 

JJ Redick was quick to shut down those rumors, claiming there was nothing abnormal about his exchange with his star player. 

"It just feels normal, which is probably part of the reason I wanted to coach the Lakers. I was talking with Luka about it, we were actually laughing about it. I was like, 'I didn't feel any tension,' and he was like, 'Nah, I didn't care about it.' You do it and you move on. But I think the reality is, everybody is always gonna have an opinion. Since pro spots have existed, everybody has always had an opinion. Sports talk, barber shops, chat rooms, everybody's had an opinion. Now, everybody's opinion is more easily accessible. So it's more amplified now. But it's normal."

Stars and their coaches get into arguments all the time that we never see. However, when it is on national television, it obviously puts a magnifying glass on the relationship. Fortunately for JJ and Luka, they have history. They were teammates together in the Dallas Mavericks, and all reports indicate they are about as close as a player and coach should be. There’s no fire to this smoke, just some heated emotions during an intense game.
